Flavorful Seasoning Fat Cubes

I like to think of the fat in a meal as the flavor. It’s what can take something “blah” like chicken, rice, and vegetables and make them all come together in tasty goodness. One way to do this is by adding herbs and spices to your fat – things like olive oil and melted butter work great. ⠀

Plus, your fat is already pre-measured so you can use as many cubes as you need for your recipe or meal.⠀

Here’s one for Indian flavor – each cube has:⠀
2 pinches of dried ginger⠀
1/4 tsp cumin⠀
1/4 tsp coriander⠀
1/8 tsp turmeric⠀
1/8 tsp curry⠀
1 TBSP olive oil⠀

Here’s one for Southwest flavor – each cube has:⠀
Fresh cilantro⠀
1/4 tsp cumin⠀
1/4 tsp coriander⠀
1/8 tsp chili powder⠀
Squirt of lime juice⠀
1 TBSP butter (melted)⠀

Fill the cubes with the dry ingredients then add the oil/butter. Pop in the freezer and they’re ready to grab whenever you need.⠀

You can use them as you cook or heat them with already prepped food. It’s nice to be able to have the flavor combo ready to go without pulling out 5 different seasonings. Plus, if you’re using fresh herbs – this is a great way to preserve them. If you’re using fresh herbs, you’ll need more for each cube, but if you’re using dried, you’ll need less (about 1 TBSP fresh to 1 tsp ground).
